The Breathe of God

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. – Matthew 4:4

I have forgotten my daily bread. I have starved myself. I have forgotten to breathe and I lost the source of life that animates me.

The face of Jesus I have not behold. For lo the world is upon me — its endless cares and worries! I have lost touch with the power of my God whom I know in the days of yore. I come to the sanctuary — to behold the beauty of Jesus and to breathe the air that fills my lungs with life.

Jesus, I come. Take my hand. Calm my thoughts as I breathe in — and rest in your grace and unfailing love. Amen.
